PInAKOTEKA

We run an small, home kennel, our dogs are full members of our family, they live with us, travel with us and accompany us every day. We do not run a big farm and we will never run such a kennel because this type of breeding does not meet our standards.

Our passion and commitment make our kennel unique and on a high level. We are constantly training and developing to make our dogs happy.

We invite you to discover the world of our cheerful dogs and join our sheltie family!

Pinakoteka Shetland Sheepdog Breeding - is your good choice if you are looking for an active dog after examined parents with possible predispositions to sport and work.

Love and partnership

In our kennel we love our dogs, they are our family members, we train them with positive methods and we remember that the dog as another species has its own needs.

Attention to health

Health is the most important part of a dog's life and following this thought, we offer puppies only after comprehensively examined dogs, which gives the possibility to prevent many diseases and defects. We do not believe in blind luck, each of our breeding dogs has a package of examinations, which is described next to the respective dog. We have a number of health requirements towards the sires we breed our dogs with. We have extensive knowledge of nutrition and currently feed our breeding bitch a fully balanced, calculated and supplemented according to the art of the barf diet. We are happy to help new dog owners from us to continue this diet as the puppies will also be on it.

Cultivation of breed activity

Shetland Sheepdogs have always been working, active dogs so we cultivate their breed characteristics through herding training and herding exams as well as general activity and their innate gift for quick learning and willingness to work in dog sports. Our sheepdogs are not parlor dogs - they are playful, active, cooperative and willing to work with humans. We focus on the psyche of the dog and its predispositions and abilities and not only on the nice fur, the dog must first of all have usable features and a good psyche, which will allow it to live smoothly with a man and enter into work and sports in which the dog will feel comfortable.

Responsible selection of a puppy for your home

At our kennel you will not book a particular puppy as soon as it is born.

Puppies will be observed from the first day of life and around the 6th week, tests will be carried out to help select a suitable home for the puppy. We do not reserve puppies on colour or general appearance alone. A dog is a set of visual as well as mental parts and should be given the best home for its abilities, advantages and disadvantages. We live with a dog for a couple of years and it has to be chosen wisely and responsibly for the person. This is why we have a system of filling in a questionnaire.

Socialisation, habituation and early neurological stimulation of puppies as standard

We have a specific plan for the socialisation and habituation of puppies, so that puppies from our kennel will be open-minded, curious toddlers familiarised with many of the elements they will encounter in their lives. Slowly, according to their development, we will show the puppies the world, get them used to moving in the car, grooming or caring for them. Puppies will be given a playground with hanging elements, rustling elements, different surfaces and a set of socialisation toys to support the puppies' motor skills: platform, rocker, platform, swing, footbridge, balance board and ladder. Playtime on the playground will always be fully supervised.

All puppies will be included in an early neurological stimulation programme which will increase their stress tolerance, and they should have better resilience both physically and mentally.

KNOWLEDGE- STUDIES

Breeding pure breed dogs is a huge responsibility, so before deciding to embark on this path for a couple of years I took part in a number of on-site and online trainings.

The most important stage was to participate in 2021 in a course for breeders organised by the Rzeszów branch of ZKwP. The course lasted three months, included more than 50 hours of learning and the scope of knowledge: history of ZKwP, genetics, anatomy and physiology, reproduction, dog psychology, zoopsychology, behaviourism, puppy rearing, early stimulation and socialisation. The list of lecturers is extremely long: Anna Redlicka, Agnieszka Łyp-Chmielewska from Psiparagraf.pl , Anna Rogowska, Agnieszka Andrearczyk - Woźniakowska, Gizela Makarewicz, Jolanta Marcinkiewicz, Damian Kotela, Katarzyna Adamus-Fiszer, Katarzyna Bargiełowska, Marcin Lichnierowicz, Mirosław Redlicki and Wojciech Kinda.

This series of trainings was the basis and foundation for further development in the direction of breeding, earlier I was personally interested in dog nutrition and to this day it is one of my favourite subjects, to which I gladly devote my free time, and since it is a very developing field of science it is worth keeping up to date.

Hakuna Matata al Bader

Female kennel founder

Born 27.06.2021 in Czech kennel al Bader (FCI) in a litter of 5 puppies by bitch ELIZABETH COTTEN AL BADER (CZ) and dog BLACK DELIGHT PINCODE (DE).

Ciri is a very cheerful, lively bitch, open towards people and animals although naturally for the breed she keeps her distance at the first contact. When she gets to know someone closer she is often very effusive in showing affection (she loves kissing) and cooperates with such people without any problem. She derives joy from every activity, loves to work and offers behaviour herself. She fetches very nicely, has quite a high awareness of her own body and an open mind to all novelties. She puts a lot of heart into her work, works nicely for just a social reward or a toy (e.g. a tug) and chooses these forms more often than food.He has firmly instilled rules that make him feel safe and scheme, which is important in the life of a dog. She eats a full barf diet on a release command, does not defend resources, and gives up nicely without frustration.Ciri is not aggressive towards any familiar creatures, she is not keen on chaos and shouting at children however she simply withdraws from uncomfortable situations without leading to escalation or threatening attitudes. She is quite submissive however is able to stand her ground by communicating boundaries. Sometimes she lacks momentum and a sharp, quick reaction when experienced and strong sheep, we are trying to work on this.

Ciri is not a barking dog! Despite the opinion of a strongly barking breed, Ciri barks only during very strong agitation (e.g. during agility training) or when wanting to ‘move’ or ‘unstick’ a sheep during training. On a daily basis, she does not accost with a weir, she does not bark senselessly, she does not become vocally hysterical. This is quite rare in the breed but is based on muting the dog's unwanted and unhealthy reactions to the environment and events.Ciri has no unhealthy fixations or behavioural problems, and she allows vets, groomers and other professionals to work without problems. Her personal charm has changed the opinion of many a person about Shetlands.Interesting fact- Ciri's left eye is bicoloured (blue-brown) only coloured around 3 months of age. This trait carries over from her grandfather's side, an outstanding representative of the breed- Lovesome Crystal Blue (PL).
